Summary
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now asserts, citing a debate with the opposition, that the opposition recognizes William Ruto’s legitimacy as Kenya’s fifth President.
On his remarks yesterday while in Voi for the burial of Wiper nominated Taita Taveta MCA Constance Mwandawiro, Kalonzo confirmed that the opposition now recognise Ruto as the President of Kenya.
Despite criticism from his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, the Head of State, according to Kalonzo, shown maturity and statesmanship by supporting the national dialogue. He also declared that the opposition would not run for president until the next general elections.
According to Kalonzo, who along with Kimani Ichung’wah of the Kenya Kwanza co-chairs the National Dialogue Committee, nobody will obstruct the conversations. The talks have since received approval from both the National Assembly and the Senate.
Additionally,he noted that the remarks made by President Ruto’s deputy Gachagua at a burial in Ukambani had upset them and made the community’s citizens wonder what type of leader he is. However, Kalonzo promised that he would “call everyone to order,” accusing Gachagua of attempting to thwart the peace movement.
The National Dialogue Committee was established to end the political crisis that saw Azimio leader Raila Odinga call for mass rallies against what he considered wrongdoings by the government.
